Ann Clark, AMFT
she/her/ella
(Supervised by Cristofina Gonzalez, LCSW #22961)
Anna Clark, AMFT (she/her/ella) is a bilingual (English/Spanish) Associate Marriage and Family Therapist who deeply believes in the importance of feeling seen, especially in our hardest moments. She understands what it is like to feel invisible, to struggle with belonging, and to question identity and brings that into the room with care and humility. Anna is attuned to the ways trauma impacts the body, mind, and relationships, and thoughtfully adapts her approach so that the therapeutic space itself does not repeat harm.
She asks for permission, moves at your pace, and prioritizes your autonomy because she understands that being offered choice is not a small thing for those of us who have experienced a loss of control. She incorporates humor and play where it fits naturally and does not rush. Real change happens on your timeline, not hers.
Anna works with individuals, couples, and families of all ages, with a special passion for Spanish-speaking, immigrant, and multicultural communities. In her work, Anna aims to help clients build insight, emotional skills, and the capacity to navigate relationships and distress by centering their values, knowledge, and strengths. She does not pathologize or shame, and honors resistance as valid, understanding it is often rooted in trauma and survival. Anna values there being room to disagree in therapy, to say "no, not quite" because a space where you can push back is one where you are more comfortable being yourself. For her, therapy is a place where we can move toward change and, equally, receive permission not to change. She welcomes opportunities to center her clients' most salient identities, acknowledge how intersectional oppression shapes their lives, and hold with intention the way history shows up in the room. Anna has a background in helping individuals and families navigate life transitions such as the birth of a child, raising teenagers, facing chronic illness, and grieving loss. Her clinical experience includes individual youth and family therapy across a range of presentations, mood and anxiety disorders, eating disorders, ADHD, suicidality co-occurring with trauma, physical health concerns, and psychosocial stressors.
Anna holds a Bachelor's degree in Cultural Anthropology from Brown University and a Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of San Diego. She draws on Structural and Bowen Family Systems theories for their cultural adaptability, and incorporates Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and for eating
disorders specifically, Family-Based Treatment.
She offers therapy in English, Spanish, and Spanglish. Vengan tal y como están — come exactly as you are.
