Cecilia Polkinhorn, MFT

Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist #134183

Cecilia (She/Her/Hers) is a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist as well as a registered Art Therapist. She holds two Master's degrees, one in Psychology from Phillips Graduate University and one in English & Comparative Literature from San Diego State University. She also earned a bachelor's in Multimedia Art from San Diego State. These areas of study have helped her serve a diverse group with expressive therapy tools for inner and interpersonal healing as well as stress management. Growing up bilingual has also helped Cecilia expand her reach to work comfortably with the Spanish speaking population.

Cecilia is passionate about working with individuals and couples, especially those who might struggle with ADHD, anxiety, depression, trauma, bipolar disorders, and big life transitions. She approaches treatment with a compassionate, trauma-informed, and non-judgmental lens, integrating strength-based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and psychoanalytic approaches with Art Therapy directives.

Cecilia provides a safe, confidential setting for clients to explore, process, and make meaning. She emphasizes that there is no need for previous experience with art or art-making to participate in art therapy, and welcomes folks from all walks of life.
